III. After Action Event Report. Reviewed this year’s duty roster and noted that it was a work in progress. More discussion will be held at upcoming meetings. Both positive and negative issues were discussed. Most issues have been resolved; however it was noted that there were pets at the event belonging to both sutlers and reenactors. Due to liability issues to the 23rd, this will not be allowed at next year’s event per battalion by-laws. Participants and sutlers who choose not to follow the rule will be asked to leave. Also noted was the use of the ATV on sutler row and within camps. It was agreed that use of this vehicle would be limited and kept at the gate for safety and liability reasons. Cars in camp were discussed as the worst ever. We will discuss more in future meetings as to how to control and resolve this issue.
IV. School Day Money: motion was made to take a percentage of any school day money collected from the 2011 event forward be used to pay expenses encured by school day. Tom made the motion, 2nd by George, passed by acclimation.
V. Next Year’s Event Date: tentatively scheduled for March 9-10 with school day falling on March 8.
VI. New Membership: A vote was called on Cindy & Jessie Byrd, Ciara Lee, Maggie Shaw, Heather King, and Chris Adams for membership into the 23rd. All were accepted unanimously. Open discussion was as follows: Mike King presented dates for Hemingway Shag Festival, April 14-16. He also gave information for 2 new recruits, John will be the contact. Meeting dates for the year were discussed.
