23rd SC Infantry |
This is the gear that you'll need to get started as a Confederate Civil War re-enactor. This list was compiled from examining 15 years of stuff in my closet. I'm thinking of cost, potential for double duty, and absolute necessity. So keep in mind that there is a lot to get and this is just a guideline to get you started. The items that are absolutely essential are marked with an asterisk. These prices are only estimates so you'll have an idea about what to spend to get started. Where do you find this stuff? The sutlers of course. A sutler is a period merchant that normally goes to an event and sets up his tent and sells his merchandise. Many have online catalogs and will send you things through the mail. A web search for Civil War Sutler will turn up plenty of choices. |
